Grave of :Susan Halse Inscription: The grave has deteriorated and been vandalised since I first viewed it in February 1998, and the inscription is now difficult to read. The inscription is given below. The inscription refers to seven children who predeceased her. She had another eight who outlived her. Biographical note: Susan was an 1820 Settler travelling to South Africa with her husband, as part of Morgan's party. She is the 'Mother' of the Halse family in Southern Africa. To the memory of SUSAN Wife of T H Halse who died Aug 11th 1839 Aged 39 Years & 11 Months Her loss has been most severely felt by Her Family. Also To the memory of
